Choosing an Indoor Infrared Sauna

An indoor infrared sauna is a freestanding wooden cabin with infrared heater panels, designed to sit inside your home. Because infrared saunas run at lower air temperatures (roughly 120-150°F) and don't produce steam, they need no special ventilation or drain and can go in most dry rooms with a level floor.

Where to put it

• Good spots: spare bedrooms, basements, home gyms, walk-in closets and garages.
• Floor: any level, hard surface; many people add a mat over carpet.
• Clearance: leave a few inches around the cabin and room for the door to swing.
• Height: most models are about 6.3-6.5 feet tall, so check ceilings in basements.

Power

Many 1-2 person indoor infrared saunas plug into a standard 120V outlet, ideally on a dedicated circuit. Larger 3-6 person cabins often need a 240V hardwired connection. The electrical requirement is in each product's specifications.
