Short answer: the Sunray Savannah is a 3-person indoor far infrared sauna in Canadian red cedar. It has 8 carbon-nano heaters, keypads inside and out, Bluetooth, chromotherapy and a reading lamp, and runs on a dedicated 120V/20A circuit. At about 59 x 47 inches it fits a spare room or basement, and it suits couples or small families who want a little more bench room than a 2-person cabin.

Heating and comfort

Eight carbon-nano panels warm you directly while the air stays cooler than in a traditional sauna. Our listing gives a 20-minute preheat; plan on longer in a cold basement. If you're new to the difference between infrared and hot-rock saunas, our infrared vs traditional sauna guide explains how each feels.

Keypads inside and outside the cabin set the time, temperature, lights and heater intensity, so you can preheat without stepping in. The movable backrest and LED reading lamp make it easy to settle in with a book, and Bluetooth plays music from your phone. The 7-color chromotherapy light is there for mood rather than any proven health effect; our chromotherapy guide covers what it can and can't do. The oxygen ionizer and ceiling vent help keep the air fresh between sessions (see our sauna ionizer guide).

Sunray Savannah features: dual LED control panel, Bluetooth speakers, chromotherapy lighting and carbon nano heaters, 59 x 47 x 75 inches

Size and placement

The Savannah needs about 59 x 47 inches of floor and 75 inches of height. Inside, the bench area is about 55 x 43 inches, which seats three adults side by side or two with room to stretch. It's for indoor use on a level floor: a basement, spare bedroom or home gym works well. Not sure whether you need two, three or four seats? See what size sauna you need.

Power

The Savannah plugs into 120V but needs a dedicated 20 amp circuit, so it shouldn't share an outlet with other appliances. If you don't have one near the spot you've chosen, an electrician can usually add it without the 240V work a traditional heater needs.

Warranty

Sunray's data sheet for the Savannah lists 7 years on the structure, 1 year on electronics and 1 year on heaters.

Sunray Savannah features: ergonomic backrest, 120V 20 amp power and Canadian red cedar wood

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Canadian red cedar cabin with a pleasant natural aroma
  • Room for three in a footprint not much bigger than many 2-person models
  • Keypads inside and outside, plus a reading lamp and Bluetooth
  • Runs on 120V, so no 240V wiring

Cons

  • Needs a dedicated 20 amp circuit. Check your panel or get an electrician's quote first.
  • Electronics and heaters carry a 1-year warranty, shorter than the 7-year structure cover.
  • Three adults fit, but shoulder to shoulder. For more space, look at a 4-person cabin.
  • Infrared tops out around 140 to 150°F. For hot-rock heat and steam, choose a traditional sauna.

Verdict

The Savannah is a well-equipped red cedar infrared sauna that seats three without needing a big room: keypads inside and out, Bluetooth, a reading lamp and 8 heaters on a 120V circuit. Plan the dedicated 20 amp circuit and it's an easy step up from a 2-person model. See current pricing on the Sunray Savannah product page.
