Portable Saunas

What Is a Portable Infrared Sauna?

A portable infrared sauna is a soft-sided, 1-person sauna with carbon heating panels in the walls. You sit inside on a folding chair with your head outside or inside (depending on the model), and the heaters warm your body directly. They plug into a standard household outlet, set up without tools and fold down for storage, which makes them the most affordable way to start using a sauna at home.

Who they suit

• Apartments and rentals where a permanent cabin isn't practical.
• Anyone who wants to try sauna sessions before investing in a full indoor infrared sauna.
• Small spaces: most fold flat to fit in a closet.

What to compare

• Number of carbon panels: more panels spread heat more evenly (our models use 3 or 4).
• Size: oversized models give taller users more room.
• EMF rating: some models are labelled low EMF.
• Controls and extras: remote controls, foot heating pads and chairs vary by model.

Portable vs cabin saunas

Portable saunas are far cheaper and easier to store, but a wooden cabin heats more evenly, reaches higher temperatures and lasts longer. If you have the space, compare our affordable saunas and home infrared saunas, or read our sauna size guide.
